.....burn baby burn.......

....the heat index reached 105 degrees in NYC this week.....and what are we girls to do, but hit the beach to keep cool.....

.....it was so hot, we either had to be right next to the water or tucked in the shade to get some relief.....

.....even the Florida girl herself was a bit hot....but my girls; they just don't know heat like this.....so  it was the perfect distraction to meet up with our friends, the Youngbergs.....

......soon they are moving to Pittsburg from their quaint little beach town in Belle Harbor, NY.......

......Mary, Madeline and Megan are the sweetest beach girls I have ever seen......their Daddy, Jason and I used to work together and his promotion is moving his beautiful family to Pennsylvania to pursue opportunity and new beginnings.........

.....our visits with his three girls are few and far between, but when we do get together, I always wonder why we don't do it more often....

.....all five girls played wonderfully together......

.....but even though we had new friends, new toys and a new beach to try out, Elsie fell into the same predicament we have had each beach trip  so far this summer.....

.....She has her fleeting moments of being very concerned about the sand all over her feet.....

.......and Callie preys on Elsie's preoccupation.....

.......this time only to steal goldfish out of Elsie's cup when she wasn't being watchful of her snack.....

......and Callie is always jovial of her big sister conquest.....

.....then she schemes to go back for more.....

......however, this time we were able to distract when we heard the bell.....the icy man and his cart is an assurance of gleeful squeals and happy babes.....

......and the last three times we have come to visit, Kristin has graciously bought everyone their icy.....

......and before I can get the second application of sunblock rubbed into Elsie's face, she is off.......running as fast as the wind and I am trailing behind to get a shot of the enjoyment.....

.....with so many flavors to choose from.....it's a tough choice.....

.....Mary chose the tropical swirl....

......and I chose cherry for Callie since that was the flavor Elsie wanted..... and these days, the sisters have to have everything the same to keep things calm in the house....

.....although, I think today, cherry was the wrong choice for Callie.....

......she didn't want her boring, single colored cherry.....she wanted Mary's multi-colored delight.....

.......a little distraction from Momma asking for a bite of her icy and then all was good.....

......until Callie dropped her icy in the sand.....

....and with that catastrophic episode, it was time to wash the sand off, pull on some dry clothes, allow the summery smell of sunblock to linger, but head home after a leisurely day at the beach....

.....Kristin, thank you so much for your hospitality, your company and for the fun day you and your sweet girls gave us.....we will miss you, but know we will see you next summer!

.......and although the heat wave is officially over, we are still planning on some good summertime adventures this week......so more to come.....
