.....sick with the ick- Part II......

.....we are on Day 4 of this horrible stomach bug.....both of my babies are starving and thirsty, yet as of this morning, neither of them could even hold down a sip of pedialyte.....

.....as the morning rolled on, my girls lay on the palate I made for them on the floor and I decided to switch it up for today.....

....instead of doing this all morning.....

....we did this.....

......Momma needed to get out of the lysol infested house, the piles of soiled towels from last night and get the heart rate pumping.....it's a sunny 65 degree day and fresh air is healing......especially Central Park fresh air.....

......I packed up the picnic blanket, coloring books, stickers, magnet games, and markers (thank you, Aunt Amy, for the get well care package!), left the sunblock at home and we headed out for some good old fashioned Vitamin D.....

.....since little Elsie is three days behind Callie with this bug, she is in the thick of it......and was fast asleep in the stroller by 9:30am.....

......and although Callie is past the totally lethargic phase, she still isn't her bright, cheerful self.....

.....but before long, the sunshine started to work its magic....

.....they became interested in their crafts and stickers.....

.....they enjoyed the game of how many times can you take off and put back on your new summer shades.....

.....and the buzz of a spring day was a good distraction from their aching bellies.....

.....but the demands continued for water and food....

.....so Momma set the cell phone timer and every 10 minutes when it would sound, it meant one bite of banana and 1 sip of ginger ale....and my girls seemed to do OK with that routine....

.....since Callie has held down food longer than Elsie, she would get a saltine every once and a while....

.....and that made her happy....so today I got my first Callie smile.....

.....I haven't seen that beauty in 4 days......

.....there was something so strange about the park today.....we had the whole grassy area to ourselves.....which typically on a gorgeous, Saturday afternoon, we would be lucky to find a place to lay our blanket.....or quite possibly, everyone knew we were the germ girls and wanted to stay away.....

......however, it made our 3 hours at the park very quiet and relaxing....there were no balls to throw, no bubbles to blow, no dogs to chase, no squirrels to pester......in fact, neither one of my girls stepped foot off the blanket.....

......and there is something gentle about a day in the park like that.....despite the negative reasons on why we were there......the three of us just rolled around on the blanket; me rising every so often for the ginger ale and banana pieces.....but each of my girls would nestle themselves against me and sigh.....and again- it's the calming effect that we all have on one another on days like this....

.....and I close my eyes and take it all in.....

.....until it was time to head home....

......just in time for Elsie to get sick again.....

.....hopefully the next post will include pictures of my littles healthy and happy again....

.....but until then, I'll be enjoying my lazy days with them.....
